VRExplorer Changelog
New features, improvements and fixes for VRExplorer.
VRExplorer VR Version 1.2 Major update
Version 1.2 modernizes the VR interface, reworks movement, enhances the field tools and fixes numerous bugs.
🎛️ Redesigned VR interface
There’s a new menu: the radial menu. It appears right under your hand and gives you one-gesture access to the tools, adapting to the context by offering the actions that are relevant at any given moment. You browse the entries with a flick of the wrist, and the option you point to is selected. The radial menu also remembers your 3 most recently used tools, keeping them within immediate reach.
The standard menus have also been reorganized. They can now be moved, resized, pinned and docked freely during the session. To enable this, simply tick the “Move menus & docks” option in the Settings menu.
One more addition: hints displayed directly on the controllers show what each button does, and update according to the current action to help you get started — without having to memorize the controls.
📐 Measurement and annotation tools
The drawing and measurement tools are now more precise. Point placement benefits from a new sensitivity setting for finer positioning, and ground snapping helps you achieve clean, accurate drawings.
Polygons now display their area, calculated automatically.
🧭 Navigation and teleportation
Teleportation now handles walls, ceilings and enclosed spaces, ensures you arrive at the correct scale, and applies a smooth transition.
Before you confirm, a sphere linked to the ground shows exactly where your head will be once you arrive: you can check your precise height and position before moving, so you never end up too low, against a wall or inside an object.
It offers two modes, identified by color. In solo (green), available to everyone, each person moves on their own over a short distance — for example, to take a closer look at a detail. In group (blue), reserved for the session leader, they move everyone to a new point at once — the main way to navigate, letting you guide all participants through the scene.
📷 Photo mode
A virtual camera appears in your hand: you can grab it and handle it like a real one. Its screen shows a real-time preview of what you’re about to capture. You choose the format (4:3, 16:9, 1:1…) and the orientation (landscape or portrait), and you can zoom with the joystick.
Your drawings and annotations show up in the shot, and you can show or hide the interface depending on the look you want. Pressing the trigger takes the photo, and all your shots are also uploaded to the server alongside your other session information.
